The only information that is gathered or stored are email addresses and telephone numbers if supplied by you through the online contact form on this website or via direct transfer of information when meeting in person via business cards etc. Again that's when you've opted to give me your details. Your information is stored securely and only for the purposes of discussing potential or ongoing projects. If after a period of 12 months from our first contact or after a project is completed we have not communicated or begun a new project your details will be deleted. The brief for Lark Rise Daycare and Home Boarding was to create an identity for a unique home from home dog hotel experience. The feel of the brand had to be playful and imbue a sense of approachability and a safe environment for people's furry friends.
As with many of my clients, this was a first foray into design for Dawn, and so she wasn't overly sure what she wanted things to look like or indeed what was possible. Together we talked about her ambitions and needs and worked them into a brief that would deliver a good basis for future design work. I managed to create something that met and exceeded her expectations.
This project was wonderfully fun to work on. Taking a good look at the visual language of hotels helped create a witty and charming logo based on the 'do not disturb' signs that are hung on hotel room doors. This combined neatly with the shape of a dog, with the tail as the hanger hook. The design was created with one eye on its potential for use as real world 3D items, such as actual door hangers and die cut fliers. The surrounding typography and colour scheme was designed to have a friendly, positive appearance combined with a softness and warmth.
