Paws Boarding

The brief

The brief for Paws Boarding was to create an identity for a Dog Hotel. The feel of the brand had to be playful and imbue a sense of approachability and a safe environment for people's furry friends.

The results

As with many of my clients, this was a first foray into design for Dawn, and so she wasn't overly sure what she wanted things to look like or indeed what was possible. Together we talked about her ambitions and needs and worked them into a brief that would deliver a good basis for future design work. We managed to create something that met and exceeded her expectations.

This project was wonderfully fun to work on. Taking a good look at the visual language of hotels helped create a witty and charming logo based on the 'do not disturb' signs that are hung on hotel room doors. This combined neatly with the shape of a dog, with the tail as the hanger hook. The design was created with one eye on its potential for use as real world 3D items, such as actual door hangers and die cut fliers. The surrounding typography and colour scheme was designed to have a friendly, positive appearance combined with a softness and warmth.
